Three new tracks and an acoustic instrumental form CRITICAL DEFIANCE’s contribution to Bloodsurge, a split mini-album with Finland’s DET. The Chilean thrash band describe material that developed separately before finding a common direction within the release.
Dying Victims Productions has announced an international release date of October 23 on CD and 12-inch vinyl. The eight-track mini-album is streaming in full through NoCleanSinging.com, with its release arranged to coincide with the bands’ joint autumn tour.
For CRITICAL DEFIANCE, the split brings technical playing and more extreme material into contact with a quieter acoustic piece, “Will Of Steel.” Their contribution also includes “Kill Off,” “No Born” and “Say No More.”
“These creations were not originally conceived to coexist,” CRITICAL DEFIANCE state, “yet this split provided the exact space they needed to acquire a shared identity – technical execution, acoustic contrast, the exploration of darker and more extreme territories, and the overwhelming drive of thrash metal in its most violent form.”
DET open the record with three new songs: “Suspiria,” “Necromancer” and “Mutation.” The Finnish trio’s material took shape during the spring preceding the announcement, continuing the vicious, chaotic approach of their debut album for Dying Victims Productions. As the band put it, “but we wanted to tighten the screws even further.” Their name expands to “Destructive Elite Terror.”
A live recording from the Catalonia Extreme Gathering festival in Spain completes DET’s contribution. The announcement identifies it as a song from the band’s early demo material.
