CRANEUS – brings live collaboration into the studio with ‘Ace of Spades’

A live collaboration during CRANEUS' April 2026 tour of Argentina prompted an unexpected addition to the Chilean band's second album. Its version of Motörhead's ‘Ace of Spades’ is now available on digital platforms as the final single ahead of Desestrés.

The song had not initially been planned for the album. CRANEUS performed it on tour with Argentine bassist Waly Rodríguez and former Almafuerte drummer Rodolfo Márquez, and the audience response encouraged the band to consider recording its own interpretation.

That experience aligned with a question vocalist and founder Cristián García had been considering for some time: how ‘Ace of Spades’ would sound with contemporary production. Motörhead released the original in 1980, making this tribute arrive 46 years later.

‘We wanted to keep the spirit of the original, take the heart of the song and give it our own stamp. We achieved that thanks to our producer, Franco Gabelo. In the end, the result was what I had hoped for,’ García said.

Production took place at Estudios Gabelo. Guest guitarist Fernando Kähs contributed the guitar solo to the recording, which will be the only cover on Desestrés. The album is scheduled for release at 00:00 on January 1, 2027, coinciding with the arrival of the New Year.

A separate music video for the single is also planned, with production by Abysmo Films and direction by Carlos Toro. It features Eve Rocks, Milynn Lynn and actress Camila Carreño, whom the announcement identifies as figures connected to Chile's rock scene. The video's premiere date will be announced later.
