Chilean deathrash band DEATHWARDS have made their debut album, Realms of Sin, available to stream in full through Sepulchral Voice Records’ official YouTube channel. The stream was unveiled ahead of the album’s announced October 30 international release through the label.
The debut places the band’s death metal firmly within its thrash and speed metal roots. The announcement describes a late-1980s approach built around aggressive riffs, harsh vocals, unrestrained solos and a sinister atmosphere, with drumming that serves the compositions. Its stated emphasis is on retaining the raw character of the performance rather than pursuing heavily polished production.
That musical direction accompanies a sustained examination of damnation. Drawing on Dante’s Inferno, biblical imagery and medieval visions of punishment, Realms of Sin addresses guilt, lust, gluttony, greed, wrath, heresy and fraud.
